In answer to question :
These are not family members. I am doing a historical project and this information is a major turning point. In 1812, Major General Vharloes William Este who was Lieutenant Governor of New Carlisle died in office. He as replaced (temporarly) by Jasper Grant of Ireland who was an officer in the 41st regiment. I do not know hopw long Jasper was there but he died in 1812 in Ireland so it will have been brief. Can anyone scare up any local information about either of these men? I know that this is the information about the announcement of Jasper's assignment and that is all I can find: First name(s) Jasper Last name Grant Rank Colonel Unit or regiment Garrison Status of the 41st Foot Promoted rank LieutenantGovernor of Carlisle Departmental date WarOffice February 25 1812 Announcement year Announcement date 22/02/1812 Replacing vice MajorGeneral Este deceased Notes Page 363 Issue number 16577 Record set British Army Officer Promotions 18001815 Category Military Service & Conflict Subcategory Other wars & conflicts Collections from United Kingdom
