IMG_7984 - Near the earlier Sirius Lighting building by the playful architect is this one with a tipped elevator shaft.
IMG_7985 - Back from our tour of Rila, it was a nice afternoon to explore the area we previously saw with the local guide.
IMG_7987 - This pedestrian overpass goes from the Hilton to the Palace of Culture, Vitosha Blvd, and on to the Banya Basha Mosque.
IMG_7988 - Just north of the overpass is Bulgaria Square with its fountains and the National Palace of Culture.
IMG_7990 - Summers are hot and dry, so they were arranging the soaker hoses as they planted the gardens.
IMG_7991 - Vitosha Blvd., a promenade of restaurants and high-end shopping, is the main commercial street in Sofia.
IMG_7992 - The Sofia Court House was built 1929-40.
IMG_7993 - The Banya Bashi Mosque was built in 1567, financed by Seyfullah Efendi Camii in memory of his late wife.
IMG_7994 - The Central Mineral Baths. Sofia was inhabited in 7,000 BC and developed due to its hot (up to 103°C) springs.
IMG_7996 - Back to the Banya Bashi Mosque. The name means "many baths" and it is built over many natural steam vents.
IMG_7998 - In a mosque everyone must remove their shoes. Women must cover hair, arms, and legs.
IMG_8000 - Scarves and robes are conveniently provided for visitors.
