IMG_2008 - Red, oxidized, iron-rich lava, and the progression of growth of lichens and trees.
IMG_2009 - Rifugio Sapienza, and the southern Silvestri Crater, very easy for tourists. They are at an altitude of 1982 m.
IMG_2011 - This northern one, across the road, has a steeper trail around it. On the left are the main trails on up Mt Etna.
IMG_2012 - It is a 4 hour hike to the top, climbing 1395 meters more in altitude. We stayed down here.
