St. Matthew's Anglican Church Cemetery Inscriptions

(Peninsula, Gaspé, QC)
This project was done in memory of three of my grandparents who are interred in this cemetery.  If you do not find your ancestor here, it does not necessarily mean that this is not their final resting-place.  This is simply a list compiled from the actual headstone inscriptions as of September 2000.  I do not have access to the church cemetery records.  Many graves are marked only with a black cross.  Time and erosion have also taken their toll on several headstones making them impossible to read.  I have done my best to have this as accurate as possible, but should anyone notice an error please contact me at the following e-mail address.

This cemetery consists of two sections:

The old section (pre Forillion Park) is located on the waterside of the highway and one property west of the church.  The church is on the north side of the highway, away from the water.  Because the oldest section is now on park property, it can only be used with special permission, e.g. your family or loved one is already interred here.  It is in the oldest area of this section, nearest the water, especially down behind the trees, that many of the inscriptions were difficult or impossible to read.

The new section is on the same property as the church and just a few steps up the hill from it.
