GRANT
family
of Sunny Bank
| William Grant, of Scottish descent, was born in
Parrsboro, Nova Scotia in 1788. He came to Gaspe about
1812 and married Hannah Patterson (see Patterson Chart
#2). They settled on lot 18 in Sunny Bank, land
originally patented to O’Hara and McCord. William and Hannah raised a family of 9 children. In addition to the normal hardships of the time, they had three houses destroyed by fire. Despite the fact that four of their children remained in Sunny Bank and raised large families, only one family resides here today, that of Neil Grant. Like other Sunny Bank families, the Grants married into many Gaspe families, and have plenty of descendants in the area. |
