Youth Turn - About The Program

With assistance from CASA, the Gaspesian CEDEC helped organize a Youth- Turn Forum in May 2006 bringing together English, French, and Mi'kmaq youth to network, voice their opinions, and share their successes. As the culmination of an ongoing youth program, the forum was designed to encourage youth to take on leadership roles in their communities and also return to the region after having studied or gained experience elsewhere. In the English-speaking communities of the Gaspé region, as many as 1 in 4 (25%) residents are seniors (65 years and over), which makes the presence of English-speaking youth all the more important.
